I think you add Navy as a football only member. The Notre Dame game with them would continue to be annual, and the ACC gets the revenue when it's a Navy home game. I'd then bring in one of West Virginia or Connecticut. There are advantages to each.

With Navy, the ACC would restore its geographic integrity of contiguous states. West Virginia would strengthen it more in the Mid-Atlantic. Connecticut would strengthen it in New England.

One of the other things ESPN looks for in November are rivalry games. West Virginia would restore the backyard brawl, and Navy could be paired with Miami on rivalry weekend (Thanksgiving). The ACC would have UFvFSU, UGAvGT, USCvClemson, UKvUL, NCSUvUNC, DukevWF, VTvUVA, BCvSyr, and WVUvPitt. That's a good line up.

Connecticut would give the ACC UConn v BC. You'd then put Navy with Pitt, and Miami with Syracuse. The rest would be the same.

I think that WVU would have greater support with the football powers in the ACC, and would be asked first. But there is the Big XII to deal with. If they say no, then UConn would work.

The ACC could do this in the interim and buy time with the ND situation to see what further develops in a decade or two. It gets us to the 16 team scheduling advantages in the meantime.

And you're right about Wake Forest. They are here to stay.
